Why Humidity Matters

Imagine standing in a desert where it’s 100 degrees outside.  Now imagine standing in a rainforest where it’s also 100 degrees.  Do they feel the same?  Of course not because the rainforest is going to have such a higher humidity, and that greatly affects the entire environment.  Humid landscapes tend to promote more plant growth, moisture, and insect life.  As a result, humidity can have a profound impact on technology as well.  Many industries require very exacting measurements of humidity because of this impact.

  • Simulations – Many industries must assess how humidity will affect a product in advance. If a product is going to be used in a jungle, it helps to know whether it will function properly in high humidity before it’s actually there.  Some of the chambers offered through SRP Control can simulate a number of environments of differing humidities in order to determine how a product will perform in such a place.  Such chambers are especially helpful for industries that produce fabrics and biological products; however, other companies often want to test any number of productions as a way to ensure that something is ready for a global market.
  • Analysis – Some substances require very specific moisture in order to function properly. Adhesives, wood, and dust-based products are just a few examples.  Ensuring the proper dry mass and consistency of each product is extremely important.
  • Transmission – Humidity may also need to be calibrated from a distance or in a location that is not easily accessible. For instance, if the humidity of a chamber deep underground has to be measured, it’s much easier to do so from the surface.  The sensors and transmitters from SRP Control are capable of performing a variety of functions from a distance.  Our catalog can show some of the benefits of each one.
