The 2C10 Module provides RS-232 or RS-485 communications protocol electrical interface conditioning for data transmission over the fiber optic network. Each module can be jumper selected to support asynchronous, half-duplex, communications with either the point-to-point RS-232 or the point-to-point/multi-drop RS-485 protocols.
In either case it is important to maintain a 1.5ms minimum dead time between communications direction changes over the half-duplex network. RS-232 and RS-485 have different wiring requirements but can coexist on the same network at the same baud rate. The 2C10 modules act as protocol converters for networks that require a mixture of these two protocols.
