If you own- or manage an HVAC business, then you are well aware that there are times of the year when business can get really slow. For many, the start of the busy season is upon us, but it is relatively short lived and now is the time to start thinking about how you can build up business in the shoulder months to follow. One of the greatest ways to do this is to build up your arsenal. We suggest that you start with the following sensors and controls.
Temperature Controls and Sensors This would be the first and, arguably, the most influential tool to place in your box when approaching homeowners. Why? How do you market it to homeowners? They can increase the efficiency of the existing system without a huge upfront expense. By measuring the air temperature in the space, as well as the outdoor air temperature, and using that information to automatically regulate the system, it is possible to drastically reduce energy consumption, especially during the shoulder months. That means savings for the homeowner, and business for you during the slower season.
Relative Humidity Sensors and Controls These are fairly essential as well. The homeowner benefits in two ways. Firstly, and probably most importantly, ensuring that proper humidity levels are maintained is the first step in mold prevention. That means better air quality and less risk of suffering mold-related illness. Secondly, properly controlling the humidity can improve the comfort level of the space, without adjusting the thermostat. The dryer air will feel cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, which can mean less money spent on heating and cooling.
