Saving Natural Resources with Water Well Monitoring and Control

Water Well Monitoring

Water is a priceless resource for everyone.  By effectively monitoring with water wells, you can save this natural resource.  Water well monitoring plays an important part in monitoring the effects of pollution of the groundwater.  Water management systems can efficiently and safely use water pumps, pipes, level sensors, transmitters, and flow meters.

Natural Resource: Groundwater

Groundwater is an extensive, concealable, and inaccessible resource and in contrast to surface water changes in quantity and quality are often. This means that water well monitoring requires evaluation and investigation.

What is Water Well Monitoring?

Monitoring well consists of a small diameter borehole tube that is sealed in the earth with a permeable screen section at the bottom. In an underground reservoir where water is expected to collect.  The water will rise and fall in the tube, following the groundwater level and allowing level monitoring of groundwater.  By drilling a number of monitoring wells around a specific area, the groundwater level also a water table can be charted.

Monitoring Groundwater

Monitoring wells is a key tool to monitor and visualize how groundwater is stored and moves underground, a tool to secure that contaminated water is not used for consumption or irrigation and keep track and control of water resources are exploited sustainably.

What are Water Monitoring Systems Made of?

Depending on the water well specifications and specifics there are several ways to create a complete monitoring system.  These are specifically some types of products that are within the system.

  • Flow Meters – Accurately record the amount of water pumped and the rate at which water is passing through an irrigation system. The flow meter information helps monitor the efficiency of irrigation wells.
  • Submersible Transmitters – These submersible transmitters are specifically designed for depth and level measurements of groundwater, wastewater, and seawater. A submersible pressure transmitter because of its ease of use and installation is a core component in monitoring well. The PMC Ground/Sea Water Submersible Titanium Level Transmitter is an example of this. Titanium construction will satisfy many applications and ideal for environments that stainless steel is not suitable.
  • Pressure Transmitters – A pressure transmitter can determine the level in a body of liquid. They are for long term monitoring of depth and level measurements.  They design the PMC Depth and Level Pressure Transmitters for all environments.
  • Water Level Datalogger Level Transmitter – A simple, effective and economical design to measure water level. It is valuable in level monitoring applications such as well or tank level recording, aquifer characterization, environmental remediation, and sewers.
  • Topside Pressure Transmitter – Topside measurement tool of water levels.
